Hand, Elbow and Microsurgeon

Patrick Houvet, M.D., is a board certified Orthopaedic Surgeon since 1994. Dr. Houvet grew up in Paris (France) where he attended the University Paris XI. He graduated from University of Paris School of Medicine receiving the Laureat de l’Academie de Chirurgie Award, the Orthopaedic Surgery Award. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery mainly at Bichat Hospital in Paris. Dr. Houvet went on to sub-specialty training for Hand and Microvascular Surgery at the University of Paris School of Medicine, before being invited to stay on as faculty. Then he was Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery. He joined the Institut Français de Chirurgie de la Main in Paris in 1997 where he is a partner of this 10 surgeons team. Dr. Houvet specializes in the reconstruction of the injured hand and wrist and nerve surgery. He worked particularly on partial wrist fusion techniques. He is a member of the French National Academy of Surgery and an active member of the French and of all the main American Upper Limb and Orthopaedic Societies. Dr. Houvet has published several scientific papers and textbook chapters, and continues to help produce the knowledge that surgeons rely on. His work has been presented nationally and internationally. He lectures across the world, teaching surgeons at all levels the principles and practice of advanced surgical care of the upper limb. He has collaborated with industry and developed in partnership with majors several devices and filed numerous industrial patents
