Professor Moh'd Abu Hilal, is the Director of the Surgical Department and the chair Department of Surgery and minimally invasive and robotic techniques, at the Poliambulanza Foundation Hospital in Brescia. Italy He is also a Professor of Hepatobilio-pancreatic Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Southampton. He has a particular interest in Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgery and is considered one of the world experts in this field, where he has conducted a lot of research in the last 20 years, thus accumulating a vast experience in this field at an international level. He is widely published and has large number of scientific articles and in the development and description of many innovative surgical techniques. In addition, Prof Abu Hilal has participated in the specialist training of more than 450 surgeons around the world. Currently he performs 95% of his interventions with a minimally invasive technique (laparoscopic and robotic): from the simplest interventions, such as hernia repair or cholecystectomy, to those of greater complexity, such as gastrointestinal resections (removal of the stomach, intestine or colon), up to the most complex pancreatic and liver resections (including duodenocephalopancreatectomy, or Whipple surgery, and major hepatectomies).
